Welcome to Otis Place B&B. Located in the North Columbia Heights Historic District (Northwest Washington), this Victorian townhouse was built in 1910 and completely renovated in 2002/2003. The home features original woodwork, hardwood floors, antique lighting fixtures and working fireplaces. The living room is comfortably furnished with traditional sofa and chairs and features a fireplace which the guests are welcome to enjoy, relax and/or read by. The dining room features a decorative fireplace and a beautiful antique chandelier. The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops and tin ceilings. Original artwork is located throughout the home. A rear deck can be used in nice weather. Our cat, Bo, is also in residence.

It is within easy reach of many of the area's attractions. For those who choose to forego their own private transportation access to Washington's extensive metro system is a few short blocks away. 

Our accommodations provide several options to the guest.  We offer two well appointed bed rooms, including the Mauve room, the Blue room.   For those who wish more complete lodging, our Lower Level apartment offers cooking facilities as well as a sitting area, private bath, and separate entrances (front & rear).

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Mauve Room - A second floor guestroom with a queen-sized bed, writing desk, comfortable chair, dresser, color TV with cable and VCR. Additional amenities include a personal sized refrigerator and coffee maker. The in-suite bath has a pedestal sink and shower (no tub).

Blue Room - A second floor guestroom with a queen-sized bed, table and two chairs, dresser, color TV with cable and VCR and writing desk. Additional amenities include a personal sized refrigerator and coffee maker. The in-suite bath has a large claw footed soaking tub with shower and a pedestal sink.

The Lower Level apartment - The Otis Place B&B also offers a self-hosted English Basement apartment. The apartment comes furnished with a double bed, and small sofa in the main room. There is a separate fully equipped eat in kitchen and private bath featuring a multi head shower unit.  Color television with cable are included. No breakfast is provided with the apartment, guests have full use of the kitchen.

The home has high speed Internet with wireless connection available in both guest rooms.

THE OWNER:
Your host is an attorney who has a home office. He also serves as an adjunct professor teaching negotiation, mediation and dispute resolution with the George Washington University School of Law and the Keller Graduate School. He is very active in the community and the District of Columbia government.

LOCATION:
Located in the North Columbia Heights historic district, the house is 4 blocks from the Georgia Ave/Petworth subway station with access via the Green and Yellow lines to the Washington Convention Center and National Mall/Smithsonian Museums in 10-12 minutes. Guests can also access the Metro system at the Columbia Heights station 6 blocks from the house, also where visitors will find dining and shopping and the recently restored and reopened Tivoli Theater. Bus transportation is 4 blocks away; the 50 series busses on 14th Street travel to the Smithsonian Museum in about 20 minutes. The Capitol Building, Smithsonian, White House, National monuments, Universities, National Zoo and all attractions of Washington, DC are available by public transportation. The new Washington Convention Center is a short 4-stop ride on the Metro. There are a few restaurants located near the Petworth subway station, but most restaurant options are best reached by subway, bus or taxi or a 15 minute walk to 14th street at Columbia Rd (Columbia Heights). For those travelers arriving with a car, this home can provide only street parking by permit, which your host can, at your request,  secure for you in advance at no charge.
